Arrival and explore Thimpu
Embarking on a morning flight to Paro, we step into the realm of Bhutan, greeted by our Bhutanese team. Our Luxury journey unfolds at Tachog Lhakhang, a cultural gem where an ancient iron chain bridge beckons. Continuing, we pay homage at the National Memorial Chorten, a poignant monument honoring the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, amidst a serene ambiance of devotion.
The day carries us to the remarkable Tashichho Dzong, a fusion of Buddhist Monastery and fortress. Its unique architecture, devoid of nails and written plans, resonates with Bhutanese heritage and serves as the seat of the King of Bhutan and the Bhutanese Government.
On 2nd day, Thimphu’s exploration continues with the grand Buddha Dordenma statue, offering panoramic city views. A leisurely stroll along Norzin Lam Street reveals Thimphu’s unique charm without traffic lights. A visit to the main postal office introduces valuable Bhutanese stamps, a window into the nation’s rich history.
Our Luxury holiday unfolds at the School of Traditional Arts, where Bhutan’s cultural legacy thrives in the hands of a new generation. The National Folk Heritage Museum transports us to traditional village life’s warmth and simplicity. At the Motithang Takin Preserve, Bhutan’s national animal thrives, embodying the nation’s commitment to preserving its unique biodiversity. Our exploration culminates at Changangkha Lhakhang, steeped in history and spirituality.
With day’s end, we bask in Thimphu’s charm before retiring to our hotel, where comfort embraces us for a rejuvenating night’s rest.

Drive to Phobjikha and explore
After an early breakfast, we’ll embark on a scenic drive to Phobjikha Valley, passing through the Dochula Pass, where clear weather offers panoramic views of Gangkhar Puensum, Bhutan’s highest mountain. As we descend, we’ll catch sight of Wangdue Dzong and be treated to stunning vistas of the remote Phobjikha valley and its black mountain ranges.
Reaching Phobjikha, you’ll experience traditional Bhutanese rural life among the villagers. This valley is famed for hosting black-necked cranes each November, after their Tibet sojourn. Please note that today’s drive will span 6-7 hours, with breaks for lunch and scenic views.
The following day begins with a visit to the Cranes Museum, followed by a 2-hour nature walk through Phobjikha valley, starting from a hilltop with a view of Gangtey Goemba. We’ll pass flower meadows, forests, and the village of Semchubara, reaching the open valley and encountering cultural landmarks. The Nature Trail can also include a visit to Gangtey Goemba, a 16th-century monastery atop a hill, overlooking Gangtey village. The rest of the day is yours to indulge in spa treatments or other activities.

Drive to Punakha and touring around
After breakfast, we’ll embark on a pleasant 3.5-hour drive to Punakha. Upon arrival, we’ll relish a delicious lunch, followed by a short walk to Chimi Lhakhang, known as The Fertility Temple, dedicated to the unconventional 15th-century saint Drukpa Kunley, the “Divine Madman,” famous for his unique teaching methods.
At Chimi Lhakhang, blessings for fertility and well-being are sought, while the temple’s history and scenic setting offer insights into Bhutanese culture. Returning to our accommodations in Punakha, the evening promises comfort.
The next morning starts with an early trek to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, offering breathtaking valley and terraced paddy field views. Witness the impressive 350-meter-long suspension bridge over Pho Chhu River, providing stunning river vistas.
A visit to the renowned Punakha Dzong unveils intricate decor and architectural grandeur. If time permits, we’ll explore Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Lhakhang nunnery, perched high for captivating valley views. Leisure time in the afternoon concludes this remarkable day of sights and cultural immersion.

Drive to Paro and hike to Tiger Nest
After breakfast, we’ll drive back to Paro, relishing the same scenic route we embarked on four days earlier, offering Himalayan vistas and picturesque landscapes. Arriving in Paro, we’ll settle into our luxury hotel.
Our Paro exploration begins at Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, exuding historical and spiritual significance. Following that, we’ll delve into the National Museum, Ta Dzong, displaying a captivating collection of Bhutanese art, artifacts, and relics. Our journey continues to the magnificent Paro Dzong, also known as Rinpung Dzong, an awe-inspiring monastery featured in “Little Buddha.”
The next day marks the pinnacle of our Bhutan experience – a walking tour to the famed Taktsang Monastery, the Tiger’s Nest. While the trek might pose challenges, the remarkable reward justifies the effort. For those who prefer a lighter option, a trek to the cafeteria offers fantastic views of Taktsang.
After the trek, you can either relax at the hotel or luxuriate in a rejuvenating spa treatment. This day ensures an unforgettable adventure, providing a unique glimpse into Bhutan’s spiritual and natural marvels.
